Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Bank Driver to join our Hospital Sterile Services Unit Team in a Bank Contract role. As a Bank Driver, you will be responsible for transporting sterile and disinfected surgical equipment to our local hospital network.
Key Responsibilities
- Transportation of Medical Instruments: Drive our 7.5T vehicles across the South and East of England to collect and deliver medical instrumentation.
- Customer Service: Act as an ambassador for the unit, being the first point of contact for customers.
- Tachograph Records: Ensure all tachograph records are maintained correctly.
- Delivery and Receipt: Receive and check delivery of medical devices from the customer.
- Quality Records: Maintain good record keeping following all Quality records in place.
- Time Management: Manage own time according to Driver Regulations.
Requirements
- Driving License: Hold a full driving licence, including a C1 entitlement, which allows you to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).
- Driver Knowledge: Have basic knowledge of current driver hour legislation and preferably hold a Driver digital tachograph card.
- Manual Handling: Be comfortable with manual handling - movement of transport trolleys weighing upwards of 250kg.
- Education: A basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy.
- Training: Evidence of previous sterile services training is an advantage but not essential - full training will be provided.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills, verbal and written, and basic computer literacy.
- Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and an overarching desire to deliver a high quality service.
Working Hours
The role will involve working early morning/evenings and Saturdays, so applicants need to be flexible with regards to working hours. Shifts operate between the hours of 02:00 - 21:00 Monday to Friday with varying shift times on Saturdays according to the requirements of the hospitals.

As a Bank Worker, you'll be called on to provide cover during periods of sickness, holidays or increased workload. We'll give you a uniform and personal protective equipment. You won't be classified as an employee, so there'll be no fixed working pattern, or entitlement to guaranteed or continuous employment.
