Laing O'Rourke is a leading international engineering and construction company seeking a skilled Procurement Operations Specialist to join their team.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity will see you play a key role in supporting the procurement and supply chain activities for one of our major nuclear power projects, Sizewell C. You will work closely with Procurement Managers to develop and implement strategies that align with project priorities, ensuring value is maximized across the supply chain.

Sizewell C is a significant nuclear power project owned by EDF and the UK Government. It involves designing, constructing, operating, and decommissioning a nuclear power plant at Sizewell C in Suffolk, along with related infrastructure such as hydrogen production, direct air capture, and desalination technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of procurement strategies and processes.
  • Assist with:
    • Sourcing and formally agreeing an appropriate supply chain;
    • The co-ordination of commercial and technical reviews of tender returns through engagement with other specialist functions (i.e., HSE, technical compliance, quality, commercial, construction, planning, contractual services/legal, logistics, industrial relations, etc.);
    • Drafting, issuing, and executing contracts in accordance with project procurement guidelines and governance;
    • The development of the project supplier database linked to CompeteFor - including market assessments; and bid support performance;
    • The development of local, diverse, and SME engagement strategies; assist in hosting Meet the Buyer Events and community advertising.
  • Support the development of the Local Sustainable Procurement Plan through liaison with parent company experts.
  • To apply an ethical and consistent approach to the responsible procurement of goods and services to ensure compliance with professional standards, current legislation, and nuclear regulations.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of procurement and commercial principles.
  • Supply chain performance management and reporting.
