Job Summary
The Senior Clinical Fellow position in Perioperative Medicine and Major General Anaesthesia at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers a unique opportunity for medical professionals to develop and increase their experience in the management of patients presenting for surgery throughout their entire surgical journey.
As a Senior Clinical Fellow, you will be working at Junior Consultant level with Senior Consultant support and distant supervision available at all times. The role involves participating in a non-resident on-call rota and gaining experience in preoperative assessment, management, and optimisation; intraoperative management for complex major general surgery; and postoperative care for high-risk patients and high-risk surgery within a dedicated post-anaesthetic care unit.
The level of supervision will be tailored to your prior experience, with the ultimate aim of independent practice with distant supervision. This is a general fellowship with a 50% component in the area of interest, including preoperative assessment clinics and post-anaesthetic care unit as well as lists for complex major surgery.
Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at the time of commencement are required. Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Deans approval or training recognition.
About the Role
The successful candidate will have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
