Job Overview
We're seeking an experienced Public Affairs Strategist to join our Campaigns and Public Affairs team, supporting our parliamentary activity across various policy areas. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in managing our All Party Parliamentary Group for MS and collaborating with colleagues to achieve our influencing objectives.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our public affairs team at a time of significant change in the UK government and Parliament. With over half of MPs new to their roles, there's a pressing need for effective advocacy on behalf of the MS community. As our ideal candidate, you'll be passionate about public affairs, skilled in stakeholder engagement, and experienced in developing and implementing strategic campaigns.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Manage the All Party Parliamentary Group for MS, working closely with MPs, stakeholders, and internal teams to drive forward our influencing objectives.
- Develop and implement strategic campaigns to raise awareness of MS and promote our policy agenda, both in Westminster and beyond.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including MPs, Peers, and other external partners.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to ensure cohesive delivery of our influencing strategy.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A strong background in public affairs, preferably with experience in lobbying or advocacy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective campaigns.
- Proven experience in project management, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of £35,020 per annum, rising to £37,209 after 6 months and £39,398 after a further 6 months. You'll also enjoy:
- 38 days paid annual leave (including bank holidays), pro-rata for part-time.
- Generous sick pay entitlement.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Death in service scheme.
- Personalised development plans with a wide range of training courses.
- 2 days paid leave a year for volunteering during normal working hours.
