Job Title: Assistant Valuer

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Valuer to join our Strategic Property team at Staffordshire County Council.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a professional team, playing a key role in managing the County Council's property assets. As an Assistant Valuer, you will be responsible for carrying out informal valuations, rental negotiations, and providing advice on property acquisitions, disposals, and redevelopment schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out informal appraisals of land and buildings for internal departments
  • Negotiation of property sales and acquisitions, including freehold and leasehold properties
  • Managing the Council's existing property estate, including rental negotiations and maximizing income from property assets
  • Preparing reviews and feasibility studies related to property use, management, acquisition, disposal, and development
  • Preparing terms and conditions for legal documents in conjunction with the County's legal services team
Requirements
  • A relevant professional degree or equivalent level qualification or experience
  • RICS or equivalent qualification
  • Good technical and property expertise, as well as proficiency in written communication and report writing
  • Demonstrable experience of working in estates and valuation fields, preferably in a similar governmental organization
  • Experience of providing independent, impartial, professional property advice to public sector organizations
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, national performance standards, and statutory requirements
  • Awareness of local authority governance and financial regulations
  • Experience of collaborating with professionals in the property field, including solicitors, planners, facilities managers, and externally appointed agents
