About the Role

Simply Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate HLTA / Senior Teaching Assistant to join our team at Caterham Education Centre (CEC) in Caterham, Surrey. CEC is a 30-place secondary/post-16 learning centre supporting young people aged 11-16 who have difficulties with communication and social interaction, typically associated with Aspergers Syndrome, Autism, and challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

As a HLTA / Senior Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for building warm, caring, and supportive relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn. You will adapt to the varying needs of the school, ensuring the smooth running of all tasks. On occasion, physical intervention may be required, and full training will be provided. Your role will involve promoting the cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development, and spiritual well-being of pupils. You may be expected to contribute to the overall aims of the school as needed.

Essential Requirements

GCSE Maths and English (minimum Grade 4 or equivalent) are essential. A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification is desirable but not essential. Experience working in a special school environment is highly desirable. Team TEACH training is desirable. You will be required to undergo pre-employment safeguarding checks, including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
