About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Surgical Specialist Dietitian to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert dietetic services to patients undergoing lower gastrointestinal (LGI) surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of LGI patients receiving oral, enteral, and parenteral nutritional support.
  • Conduct weekly nutrition ward rounds to review complex patients on parenteral nutrition.
  • Work closely with the surgical multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care and monitoring of patients.
  • Attend and contribute to ward rounds for surgical and proactive care of older people undergoing surgery.
  • Support the development of the LGI surgery Enhanced Recovery Programme, including guideline development.
  • Provide clinical cover for LGI dietetic clinics and home parenteral nutrition clinics.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in nutrition support, surgery, and oncology.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Broad post-registration experience within clinical dietetics.

Desirable skills and qualifications include:

  • Conducting audit and research.
  • Experience of training students.
