About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our Infrastructure division at United Living Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of construction-related designs, R&D projects, and project design input.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and produce layouts and detailed drawings using AutoCAD and other 3D CAD packages.
- Contribute to the design and development of products and solutions, including construction-specific structural design solutions (temporary works).
- Develop new design methods and processes.
- Lead R&D projects and collaborate with clients and third parties as part of the design process.
- Adhere to existing working practices, methods, and procedures, and undertake relevant training to continuously improve.
- Occasionally travel within the UK to various site locations.
- Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines where applicable.
- Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the department head.
Requirements
- Minimum BEng degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, or similar).
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a relevant design engineering role or similar.
- Ability to produce designs, including relevant calculations, in design reports for stakeholder reviews.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and 2D and 3D CAD packages.
- Ability to challenge existing practices and propose new solutions to senior management.
- Ability to discuss complex technical issues with key stakeholders and persuade and influence.
- Responsible, conscientious, punctual, highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure.
- Full UK driving license.
- Ideal experience with codes of practice for concrete and steel work design (EN & BS codes).
