Job Title: Project Delivery Digital and Automation Engineer (Factory)

As a key member of the Project Engineering function, you will lead digital, automation, and process optimization activities, ensuring standardization and compliance while driving transformational change activities into the FMCG production environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead digital, automation, and process optimization activities to drive standardization and compliance.
  • Implement innovation projects as directed by the Engineering Project Delivery Manager.
  • Develop and implement small projects and trials independently.
  • Train the Engineering Team in all aspects of control systems.
  • Ensure design/installation is complete in a timely fashion and in line with Unilever's standards.
  • Manage site installations, ensuring safety standards and contractor management procedures are rigorously applied.
  • Implement new or modified Electrical Control Systems.
  • Identify and upgrade non-compliant Machinery Safety Systems, including design, implementation, and validation.
  • Integrate and validate energy-saving equipment.
  • Develop handover packages for technical documentation and software backups.
  • Digital factory operating system validation for all new equipment.
  • Write specifications and scope documents to the correct standards for key installations.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and commissioning plans of new packaging line equipment through full validation programs.
Requirements:
  • A solid understanding of automation and control principles within a packaging line/warehouse environment.
  • Commercial awareness, particularly working with engineering contractors and holding them to account.
  • Desirable: AM, PM, Quality, and FI tools, Project Management.
  • HNC in Electrical/Electronics essential, Post Graduate level education; Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Preference for multi-skills (Mech, Elec & Instrumentation/PLC).
  • Able to visualize the ideal production system.
  • Able to make logical decisions based on data.
