About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adult Mental Health Professional to join our team as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner. As a key member of our AMHP team, you will play a vital role in providing mental health assessments and support to individuals in need.

As an AMHP, you will work closely with our Police colleagues, providing acute assessment and care to people experiencing mental health crisis in the community. You will also contribute to the overall work of the team, supporting people with complex mental health difficulties and providing advice and guidance to other services as required.

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a high level of knowledge, skills, and experience in mental health legislation, codes of practice, and other relevant legislation. You will need to be able to negotiate with key partners, including patients, medical practitioners, and other providers, to secure safe alternatives to hospital admission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct mental health assessments and provide support to individuals in need
  • Work closely with Police colleagues to provide acute assessment and care to people experiencing mental health crisis
  • Contribute to the overall work of the team, supporting people with complex mental health difficulties
  • Provide advice and guidance to other services as required
  • Participate in the on-call rota and work across a 24/7 shift pattern
Requirements
  • Knowledge of Mental Health legislation, codes of practice, and other relevant legislation
  • Experience of coordinating and carrying out Mental Health Act Assessments in a range of settings
  • Experience of working in a mental health service and/or setting
  • Experience of working with a range of adults experiencing mental health crisis/difficulties
  • Successful completion of AMHP training and post-approval training record
