About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Solutions 2 Recruitment. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our educational establishment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report to and liaise with the Head of Maintenance regarding all issues related to the maintenance and administration of the facility.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance, including reviewing and negotiating with subcontractors, coordinating repairs, and performing compliance tests under the supervision of the Head of Maintenance.
  • Order parts, chemicals, and stock in accordance with the budget and purchasing procedures.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Undertake regular checks on a systematic basis, including weekly Legionella flush, monthly carbon-monoxide checks, and monthly window safety checks.
  • Assist the Groundsman with gardening duties and maintenance of the grounds, including mowing and marking pitches, as directed by the Head of Maintenance.
  • Drive the school minibuses.
  • Be on call as part of a rota to respond to out-of-hours emergencies.
  • Assist with school logistics, including stage and seating erection.
  • Maintain internal and external lighting, including setting time clocks.
  • Assist with snow clearing, de-icing, and other hazards that may arise.
Requirements
  • Meticulous maintenance skills, with electrical certification an advantage.
  • Full, clean driving license, with a D1 license an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A warm and professional manner.
  • Attention to detail and safety.
  • Loyalty, tact, enthusiasm, and flexibility.
  • The ability to work independently, yet as part of a team.
