Job Description

As a Maintenance Operative at Downing, you will be responsible for maintaining our Student Accommodation Scheme with 576 bedrooms in Cambridge City Centre.

You will deliver exceptional customer service by providing a proactive and responsive repair and maintenance service, ensuring that faults and maintenance requests within the accommodation are addressed promptly.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform high-quality repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, joinery, electrical, painting and decorating, and supervise subcontracted work as needed.
  • Complete reactive maintenance jobs efficiently and consistently meet quality standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service, liaise effectively with managers and colleagues, and exercise initiative to ensure customer satisfaction.

Essential Skills:

  • Take ownership of responsibilities and demonstrate pride in work carried out.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation and its impact on work being undertaken.
  • Possess a relevant qualification in plumbing, joinery, or electrical systems (preferable).
  • Have previous experience in domestic electrical/plumbing/general maintenance.
  • Hold intermediate-level skills in business operating systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 8am - 5pm or 9am - 6pm.
  • 1 in 5 Saturdays from 8am - 5pm on a rota'd shift basis.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum.
