To provide administrative, secretarial, and clerical support within the Respiratory Team, ensuring seamless communication and record-keeping. This role involves managing appointments, handling referrals, and collaborating with clients, clinicians, and other services.
Main Responsibilities- Manage referrals and messages, ensuring timely logging and distribution to relevant clinicians.
- Record referrals and retrieve patient information using the Rio Data Management System.
- Scan referrals and upload them into the patient information system accurately and securely.
- Administer appointments, receive patients, and contribute to resolving problems that may arise.
- Disseminate information to clinical teams and managers as requested.
- Organize care packages and referrals to other agencies under the direction of a senior nurse.
- Produce regular statistical performance information and provide patient data on an ad hoc basis for management.
- Complete monthly sickness and absence information on e-roster as requested.
- Receive visitors and handle telephone calls as necessary.
- Provide non-clinical advice to patients, carers, and members of the public.
As part of North Central London's integrated care system, we work closely with partners to deliver high-quality care. Our hospital is a training unit for medical students and nursing professionals, and we prioritize staff development to ensure excellent clinical care.
Requirements- Able to produce evidence of a good basic education, including numeracy and literacy skills.
- NVQ3 in secretarial or office administration or equivalent experience.
- Experience in using appointment systems.
- Clerical experience in an NHS setting is desirable.
- Knowledge of working in a medical setting and using medical terminology is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, both face-to-face and via telephone.
- Ability to handle patient queries tactfully and respectfully.
- Ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously and balance conflicting demands.
- Ability to learn new software programs.
- Positive attitude.
- Able to take a self-reflective approach to own practice and engage in clinical supervision.
- Able to diffuse potential conflict or aggressive situations.
