Job Summary:

Aberdein Considine is seeking a highly skilled Senior Solicitor to join our Financial Services team in Glasgow. As a Senior Solicitor - Debt Recovery Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a significant caseload for key financial services clients, providing strategic and commercial advice, and negotiating settlements to achieve the best possible outcome for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a significant caseload for key financial services clients
  • Proactively running a varied litigation caseload emanating from lender clients in connection with mortgage, personal and business lending
  • Assisting partners on key projects for lender clients
  • Providing clients with strategic and commercial advice
  • Negotiating settlements and achieving the best possible outcome for clients
  • Representing clients in a variety of court hearings and settlement meetings
  • Meet time recording and fee targets
  • Increasing visibility of LSPG by producing briefing notes when required
  • Drafting court papers and legal documents
  • Mentoring and supporting solicitors, trainee solicitors and paralegals in the department
  • Promoting the Department and the Firm through Business Development

Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • LLB, Diploma in Legal Practice
    • Minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience
    • Technical excellence with secured and/or unsecured debt recovery matters
    • Experience of title rectification, property litigation and/or a good understanding of conveyancing practice is desirable
    • Appearance at Sheriff Court
    • Experience of Court of Session matters
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to establish strong working relationships with clients
    • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work in a pressurised environment
    • Team working
    • Strong IT skills
    • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Knowledge:
    • Excellent knowledge of secured debt recovery law and practice
    • Good knowledge of Sheriff Court and Court of Session practice and rules
    • An understanding of the regulatory landscape in which our clients operate
  • Attitudes:
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Strong business commerciality awareness
    • Ability to offer practical advice to clients
