Job Summary

At National Nuclear Laboratory, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technology Manager to join our team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a technical leadership role and contribute to the delivery of complex projects in the field of remote engineering.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and direction to research programmes in remote engineering and robotics.
  • Lead a team of engineers, scientists, and technicians to deliver work programmes to time, cost, and quality.
  • Work with end-users, technology providers, SMEs, and academics to technically scope new programmes of work and develop work packages to deliver end-user requirements.
  • Support customers and interact with regulatory bodies, such as the ONR and EA.
  • Lead the build, installation, commissioning, and operational support of plant-based equipment.
  • Lead the operation and trial of test rig equipment and processes to client specifications.
  • Approve detailed designs, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to initiate and progress the procurement process.
  • Supervise technician and craft personnel.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and experience of applying legislative and regulatory requirements relating to engineering product development projects and CE/UKCA marking.
  • Proven track record of developing customer relationships and winning new customer business.
  • Experience of delivering bespoke engineered and/or robotic solutions to plant/industry.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
