Role Overview

The Index Research Group is a newly created team responsible for reviewing and analyzing index data for use by the portfolio management teams. The Head of the Index Research Group will assist in setting up the team, creating processes and procedures for index oversight, and partner with the portfolio management teams to ensure index data is timely and accurate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate daily benchmark data for all Equity and Fixed Income benchmarks
  • Perform monthly and quarterly pro-forma validation for all Equity and Fixed Income benchmarks
  • Publish daily index change projections for use by portfolio managers
  • Validate high-risk benchmarks at each index rebalance
  • Liaise with index providers on data issues and questions
  • Lead reviews of index provider index consultations
  • Respond to ESG index queries
  • Conduct custom index and new product research, including custom index backtesting
  • Monitor industry trends and developments in indexing
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of index investing, index methodologies, and data analysis, typically acquired through formal education and related work experience. Analytical and personal computer skills are also required to prepare analysis and reports.

The ideal candidate will have an MBA or Master's degree with concentrations in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent, or a Bachelor's degree with in-depth relevant experience. Expertise in index methodologies and experience with relational databases, Python, R, SAS, SQL, Tableau, or version control software are preferred. Experience using Aladdin is also a plus.
