Job Description:

This role involves leading a team of officials in ensuring compliance with food safety regulations at London Gateway, one of the largest Border Control Posts in Great Britain. As a Port Health Team Leader, you will oversee the implementation of official controls and checks on imported products of animal origin (POAO) and high-risk food and feed not of animal origin (HRNAO). You will provide direction and leadership to a multi-disciplinary team, allocating resources and priorities to achieve this goal. Additionally, you will play a key role in problem-solving and developing new ideas for the Port Health service.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food safety regulations and experience in conducting inspections and enforcement activities. They will also be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and willing to undergo training on port-specific systems. The successful candidate will work a rotating shift pattern, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend shifts. A full driving license and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.

We offer a competitive salary of £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional development.
