About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Healthcare Scientist Specialist to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As an Expert by Experience Practitioner, you will play a key role in providing support to medical staff and ensuring the highest quality service in histological pathology services.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be a registered Biomedical or Clinical Scientist with a significant background in histopathology dissection and hold an IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice (DEP) in Histological Dissection. They will be responsible for dissecting the full range of histological specimens from all specialties and may also dissect select specimens from all specialties as per training and competence.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake complex scientific procedures resulting in the correct interpretation of biological samples contributing to disease diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring.
- Dissect specimens from all specialties, including Category A-C and may dissect select specimens from all specialties as per training and competence.
- Communicate using complex scientific and medical terminology to clinical colleagues, including pathologists, surgeons, and radiologists.
- Play a lead role in educating and training Biomedical Scientists and junior medical staff in macroscopic description, dissection, and sampling of specimens.
- Contribute to the service's training and education program.
