SEMH Teaching Assistant Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a modern primary academy in the Rubery area.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting pupils with complex SEMH and SEN, and possess strong behaviour management techniques. A Level 2 or 3 qualification and/or a minimum of 12 months' experience in an educational establishment is required.
The role involves providing 1:1 support to a child in Year Three with SEMH needs, requiring someone who can be both supportive and gentle emotionally, but firm on expectations and boundaries. The aim is to reintegrate the child into the classroom.
About the SchoolThe school is an 'OFSTED' rated Good primary academy, part of a Multi Academy Trust. It offers on-site parking, a new school building built in 2019, and a supportive Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities- Support the teaching and learning of a child with SEMH needs
- Provide 1:1 support to the child, using strong behaviour management techniques
- Work collaboratively with the teaching staff to develop strategies to support the child's reintegration into the classroom
- Experience supporting pupils with complex SEMH and SEN
- Level 2 or 3 qualification and/or a minimum of 12 months' experience in an educational establishment
- Strong behaviour management techniques
- Team Teach or Positive Handling Qualification (desirable)
