Weightmans is seeking an experienced Police Associate Solicitor to join our team. As a key member of our in-house legal services team, you will provide high-quality legal advice to Surrey, Sussex, and Suffolk Police.
Key Responsibilities- Advise on and draft responses to public law claims, including grounds of defence.
- Provide expert advice to clients across all aspects of policing.
- Manage a caseload of family disclosure cases, including presenting cases in court.
- Supervise more junior members of staff on family disclosure cases.
- Liaise with various parties, including solicitors, insurers, experts, counsel, and clients.
- Provide regular face-to-face training to police officers.
- Maintain Case Manager diaries and action lists.
- Draft various documents, including Court applications.
- Satisfy client case and compliance standards with SLAs.
- Complete Client MI procedures.
- Achieve set financial and chargeable targets.
- Comply with relevant rules, policies, and procedures.
- Keep up to date with legal developments.
- Work in accordance with Weightmans' values.
We are looking for a qualified solicitor with defendant and in-house experience. You will have a flexible approach to work and be able to adapt to different tasks. Key requirements include:
- A qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 3 years' PQE.
- Qualification as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales.
- Ability to provide effective written and oral advice.
- Organisation of a complex workload and collaboration with various parties.
- Maintenance of Case Manager diaries and action lists.
- Achievement of set financial and chargeable targets.
- Compliance with relevant rules, policies, and procedures.
- Keeping up to date with legal developments.
- Work in accordance with Weightmans' values.
- Excellent IT skills.
