Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Children's Therapy Service at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Community Children's Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in providing specialist occupational therapy advice and input to children and young people with developmental disabilities or other medical conditions affecting their occupational performance.
Main Duties of the Job
- To provide client-centered specialist occupational therapy advice and input to children and young people using the best available evidence base.
- To provide advice and support for other professionals, educational staff, parents, and carers involved in addressing the occupational performance issues of children with a range of needs in the community.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registered
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate education and CPD
- Knowledge of essentials in delivering a quality service
Experience
- General postgraduate occupational therapy experience of delivering therapy within an occupational performance framework
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working
Knowledge
- To demonstrate an awareness of professional practice issues in the field of children's occupational therapy and/or new research/evidence.
- Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession
- Ability to comprehend and work within a governance framework
- Awareness of current professional issues.
Skills
- Ability to undertake a client-centered and occupations-focused assessment
- Ability to use standardized assessment tools, report, and interpret the results
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job on a day-to-day basis
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- To be able to convey information to families and others using appropriate language and with clarity
- To have excellent interpersonal skills, including empathy and active listening
