About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Acoustic Scientist to join our team at Boskalis. As an Acoustic Scientist, you will be responsible for providing acoustic modelling support and contributing to the continuous development of marine acoustic equipment and mitigation functions.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing acoustic modelling support using Python, MATLAB, and other relevant software packages.
  • Managing assigned projects, including providing in-depth support during sailing as required.
  • Assisting with providing technical training for acoustic equipment users.
  • Advising departmental managers on equipment and department technical capabilities.
  • Supporting the continuous development of current marine acoustic equipment.
  • Designing equipment survey packages and infrastructure for new and existing vessels or work platforms.
  • Providing local and remote troubleshooting and technical support for in-field operations.
  • Planning mobilisations, creating deck plans, lifting plans, attending project meetings, and managing mobilisations when needed.
  • Advising on the capabilities of PAMS regarding country-specific legislation on marine acoustic mitigation measures during seismic and other marine activities.
  • Supporting R&D to introduce new products into the operational environment, which may include sailing for equipment trials.
  • Ensuring adherence to and promotion of company QA and HSSE procedures.

Requirements:

  • BEng/BSc in a relevant discipline (Acoustics, Engineering Electronics & Mechanical, or similar).
  • Acoustics related degree or academic course (desirable).
  • Technical knowledge of acoustics hardware from industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in the field as a senior operator in some capacity.
  • Use of acoustics software packages - Python, MATLAB, or similar.
  • Experience with multiple large-scale equipment mobilisations.
  • Client interfacing experience as a technical authority.
  • Driving license.
