Infrastructure Architect Job Description

Our client, a leading company in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to join their team in Cheltenham. This is a contract role requiring eDV Clearance and involves working on-site for three days a week with commitment to five days as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technology Evaluation: Assess emerging technologies and tools to enhance system performance, scalability, and security.
  • Implementation Oversight: Lead the implementation of infrastructure projects, ensuring timely completion, budget adherence, and quality standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application development, security, and operations teams for seamless integration and optimal performance of infrastructure solutions.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure designs, configurations, and processes for knowledge sharing and operational efficiency.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and analyse infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to optimize system performance.
  • Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure the availability and reliability of critical systems and data.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers for high-quality and cost-effective solutions.
Requirements:
  1. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of servers, storage, data centres, networking, virtualization, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  2. Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and drive initiatives to successful completion.
