Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Special Needs

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our client's special educational needs department in a mainstream secondary school in Newport. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with additional learning needs and challenging behaviour.

About the Role:
  • Support a 14-year-old student with additional learning needs and some aspects of challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis.
  • Work closely as part of a team with other members of the teaching staff.
  • Assist teachers in implementing their lesson plans.
  • Create a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
  • Demonstrate high levels of patience and empathy when dealing with potentially challenging behaviour.
Requirements:
  • At least 40 days of relevant experience working with children over the last 2-3 years.
  • Patience, commitment, calmness, and problem-solving skills when working under pressure.
