Stewarts, a respected family-owned business with a long history dating back to 1742, is seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger Assistant to join their Finance Team on a 6-month contract. The company operates three Garden Centres, a Nursery, and a Landscaping division in Dorset and Hampshire, with its central warehouse and Head Office based in Christchurch.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to support the purchase ledger process, working under tight deadlines while assisting with the team's transition to Xero Accounting and other departmental tasks. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Purchase ledger processing: invoice data entry, supplier statement reconciliation, and weekly reporting.
  2. Setting up new supplier accounts and maintaining existing account details.
  3. Providing assistance to the Finance Team and cover as necessary.
Requirements
  • Recent experience in accounts payable, preferably with Xero Accounting.
