About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at VVB Engineering. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering support to projects from design to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Review and Development: Undertake mechanical design reviews to ensure compliance with current standards and best practices. Identify and address any design weaknesses or errors that could impact functionality.
  • Design and Installation Management: Manage mechanical installations throughout projects, ensuring successful delivery from a health, safety, and environmental (HSE), program, quality, compliance, and commercial perspective.
  • Engineered Solutions: Provide engineered solutions to key project problems, taking into account client expectations, project restrictions, and budget considerations.
  • Design Register Management: Manage all associated design registers, meeting minutes, drawing registers, and formal communication (RFI's, TQ's, EWN's, MAR's, etc.) in line with VVB and project requirements.
  • Liaison and Collaboration: Direct liaison with CAD teams to ensure correct drawing modeling, review drawings for clash detection and interface problems, and collaborate with manufacturers to determine product suitability.
  • Project Planning and Management: Work with the commercial department to track design changes and variances, and with the planning department to plan design, installation, and testing and commissioning (T&C) works.
  • Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor works as appropriate, assisting the commercial department in valuation and contract support.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure design and works comply with VVB and client quality management systems, and stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, laws, standards, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of relevant mechanical installations legislation and standards, BIM and design modeling standards, and all other associated standards and legislation.
  • Design and Engineering Skills: Design using AutoCAD/Microstation, and hold a HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Registration: Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer or qualification leading to this status, with preference for Chartered status.
  • Industry Certifications: Registered member of either CIBSE or IET or other recognized Engineering Council Institutions, and hold a SMSTS certification.
  • Travel and Location: This role will be based across our project locations, with travel to other sites and offices as required.
