At GSL Education, we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our client school community.

Job Summary
  • Provide direct support to students with special needs, helping them with academic tasks and ensuring they understand the material.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about the latest strategies, techniques, and legal requirements related to special education.

Responsibilities:

  • As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing one-to-one support and assistance to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist students with their learning activities, both in the classroom and in one-on-one sessions.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to students, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and Special Educational Needs Coordinator to implement individualized education plans and support strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a passion for working with children and a desire to make a difference in their lives.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is preferred.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Have patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional needs of children with autism.

Please note that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for a new one.
