Smart Teachers is a market-leading education recruitment and supply agency committed to the learning and development of young people. With branches across the country, we strive to provide high-quality teaching and support staff to schools. Our goal is to create opportunities for individuals to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people. As a result, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team.
We are a welcoming and inclusive primary school with a strong commitment to providing quality education for all students. Our mission is to create an environment where every child is valued, respected, and supported to reach their full potential. We pride ourselves on fostering positive relationships and offering comprehensive support for children with additional needs. As a result, we are looking for someone who shares our passion for inclusive education and is eager to make a meaningful difference.
This opportunity involves working closely with a child in KS1 who has SLD, supporting them with daily learning activities, personal development, and social integration. You will work under the guidance of the class teacher and SEND Coordinator to implement tailored learning activities and strategies that meet the child's individual needs, helping them engage with the curriculum at their own pace. Adaptability, creativity, and the ability to foster a nurturing and safe learning environment are essential skills required for this role.
The successful candidate will have previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly in KS1. They must also be able to manage challenging behaviors and implement effective strategies to support engagement and learning. A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach, with a genuine commitment to supporting children with SLD, is essential. Additionally, they should have knowledge of basic learning techniques suitable for children with SLD and be willing to undertake further training.
The salary for this position is approximately £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, are preferred. The successful candidate will undergo thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
