Gastroenterology Medical Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Gastroenterology Consultant to join our team at The Princess Alexander Hospital in Harlow, Essex. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a gastroenterology service to the hospital, working closely with Consultant colleagues to prevent, diagnose, and treat illness, and ensuring the proper functioning of the Department.
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for improving health and wellbeing in the Harlow Community and will be dedicated to working in multidisciplinary teams. They will also be responsible for professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, as well as carrying out teaching, examination, and accreditation duties as required.
The successful candidate will have a valid GMC, the right to work in the UK, and a minimum of 6 months paid experience in the NHS/UK. They will also have references as a doctor that cover 2-3 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision of a gastroenterology service to PAH with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness
- Provision of a gastroenterology service that works to recognised guidance (such as NICE and British Society of Gastroenterology) and to targets (e.g. Cancer Waiting Time and New: FU ratio)
- Provision of an endoscopy service that meets JAG requirements and KPIs (key performance indicators)
- Provision of gastroenterology outpatient service at PAH, SMH, and HEH
- Work in multidisciplinary teams (Upper GI Cancer, IBD, Harvey ward)
- Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff
- Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination, and accreditation duties as required
