About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant in Psychiatry of Learning Disability to join our team at the Whiteleaf Centre in Buckinghamshire. As a key member of our Community Mental Health Team, you will play a vital role in providing senior medical input and clinical leadership to our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide senior medical input and clinical leadership to the CMHT, with responsibility for patients seen by yourself and those supervised by you.
  2. Assess new routine referrals from other agencies, provide consultations to non-medical clinicians, and offer ongoing management for patients requiring longer-term care.
  3. Provide direct clinical supervision to trainees and specialty doctors, as well as psychiatric supervision and line management to allocated trainees or specialty doctors.
  4. Ensure medical involvement in the CPA process and provide timely written correspondence to relevant professionals.
  5. Contribute to the collection of data as required by the Trust and other relevant agencies.
  6. Attend regular directorate managerial meetings, including the Medical Advisory Committee and monthly Directorate/Managerial liaison meetings.
  7. Participate in the local training programme for junior doctors and maintain a programme of training and CPD accreditation.
  8. Cross-cover for colleagues during annual leave, study leave, and brief periods of sickness absence.
Requirements
  • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent qualification.
  • Approved clinician Status and section 12 (MHA) Approval.
  • Full GMC registration with license to practice.
  • Higher degree or equivalent in a relevant field of medical, psychological, or other studies.
Experience
  • Experience of the full range of clinical responsibilities expected of a consultant in this specialty.
  • Experience of close collaborative work with social care and other agencies.
  • Application of evidence-based practice and interest in clinical and policy developments for this care group.
Training
  • CCT in Psychiatry, or inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in psychiatry, or CESR.
  • Higher specialist training in general adult or child and adolescent psychiatry in an approved training post for a minimum of three years.
Other Requirements
  • GMC registration Full.
  • Transport Mobility as required for the post.
  • Professional attributes meeting specifications set out in GMC Guidance: Duties of a Doctor.
  • Good IT Skills, including typing.
