About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated midwife to join our core team at Maidstone Birth Centre. As a midwife specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to women and pregnant people, promoting normality and supporting their choices in place of birth.
Key Responsibilities
As a midwife specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert care to women and pregnant people, working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of care. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, promoting normality and supporting women's choices in place of birth.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in midwifery, with experience of providing low-risk intrapartum care in community settings. You will also need to have completed a preceptorship programme and achieved midwifery competencies such as cannulation, water birth, and suturing. We operate an on-call system for the birth centre, and you will need to be willing to participate in this.

- RM and eligible to practice
- Evidence of further study and development of professional and academic skills

- To have obtained or be studying at diploma level
Experience/Knowledge

- Sound knowledge of recent Government/Professional documents with awareness of implications to service provision
- Able to demonstrate motivation to maintain professional development
- Ability to work within acute and primary health care settings
Desirable
- Previous community and hospital experience
- Ability to use flexible innovative approaches to practice tailored to meet the clients' individual needs
- Knowledge of change management theories and their impact
Skills
Essential
- Able to recognise own limitations in order to seek advice appropriately
