Specialist Biomedical Scientist

The University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology and Blood Transfusion department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for undertaking complex investigations to assist in the diagnosis of disease and monitoring of treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake an extensive range of complex investigations to assist in the diagnosis of disease and monitoring of treatment.
- Rotate through Haematology, Coagulation, Blood Transfusion, and Immunohaematology sections.
- Use manual, semi-automated, and automated techniques on highly specialized analytical equipment.
- Participate in the emergency call service and work out of hours/night/weekend shifts.
- Current HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Substantive post-registration experience/competency in required activities, preferably in the UK.
- Experience of using relevant instrumentation within the laboratory.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Able to work to an appropriate standard of competency in all sections and maintain those skills through rotation.
- Sufficient skill and knowledge to deputize for Band 7 staff in their absence to maintain workflow and manage staffing.
- Able to assist with training and management of Practitioner BMS staff.
- IT skills appropriate to the department.
- Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
- Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
