We are a leading water and waste management company, Severn Trent Water, and we are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team. As a Group Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role in delivering a group financial reporting and accounting service, ensuring compliance with group accounting policies and relevant Accounting Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the year-end financial accounting process and liaise with external auditors.
  • Account for complex areas, especially in relation to financial instruments, pensions, and share-based payments.
  • Draft and maintain documentation to support accounting for complex areas.
  • Maintain regular communication with subsidiary finance teams to understand business developments and lead them through the related financial reporting implications.
  • Monitor compliance with group accounting policies and provide guidance on complex or subjective matters.
  • Review and challenge the consolidated information for unusual or unexpected balances appearing on consolidation, and work with subsidiary finance teams to resolve issues identified.

Requirements:

  • Financial qualification in ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.
  • Ability to handle complex technical financial reporting/accounting issues.
  • Experience of a group consolidation process either as an auditor or within a finance team.
