The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Caring Residential Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with young people who have complex needs, connected to their individual life experiences and childhood adversity. Your mission will be to make Every Second Count, helping us succeed by:

  • Working in a positive, respectful, and empowering way with all young people to promote good relationships and encourage achievements.
  • Participating in and encouraging the participation of young people in domestic tasks to develop self-care skills.
  • Writing review reports, risk assessments, and contributing to care plans.
  • Liaising with parents and partner agencies to ensure the best interests of the young people are respected and promoted at all times.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A good understanding of the developmental needs and milestones of young people.
  • Experience of working with children and families.
  • A manual driving license, due to the remote location.
  • The ability to communicate, engage, and form positive relationships with young people, parent/carers, and other professionals.
  • The ability to produce clear and concise written reports and records of good standard and verbally present information and views.
  • The ability to challenge individuals where necessary, remain calm, and objective in difficult situations.
  • An HNC in Social Care, SVQ level 3 in Care, or equivalent qualification, or the ability to undertake these qualifications.

About You

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. Due to the nature of the role, it will be necessary for all Residential Childcare Workers to be subject to a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check by Disclosure Scotland and achieve membership of the scheme prior to commencing work with us. CareTech will cover the cost of this check.
