About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Second Chef to join our team at Barchester Healthcare. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality culinary experiences to our residents, while working closely with the Head Chef to develop menus and manage kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious and flavoursome menus that cater to the needs of our residents.
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes that meet our residents' expectations.
  • Develop and maintain a warm and welcoming environment within the kitchen, promoting a positive and efficient working culture.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and implement menu plans, ensuring they meet our residents' dietary needs and preferences.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain accurate stock control.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A personable and warm approach, with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of our residents.
  • Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualifications.
  • A good understanding of nutrition and experience working with fresh seasonal food.
  • The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home.
  • Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus.
  • A good understanding of HACCP and health and safety regulations.
