About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Second Chef to join our culinary team at Barchester Healthcare. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality meals to our residents, working closely with the Head Chef to develop menus and manage kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu development and kitchen management
  • Work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to create nutritious and flavorful meals
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring seamless operations and high-quality food production
  • Engage with residents to tailor menus to their preferences and dietary needs
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment
Requirements
  • City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification in culinary arts
  • Good understanding of nutrition and food safety principles
  • Experience working with fresh, seasonal ingredients and in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Personable and warm approach, with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
