Job Title: Compliance and Health and Safety Manager

At Melior Associates, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compliance and Health and Safety Manager to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a leading civil engineering contractor and contribute to the development and implementation of our Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the HSE department, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards. They will also be responsible for developing and implementing effective HSE management systems, conducting audits and risk assessments, and providing training and guidance to staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and management systems
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on HSE matters
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with operations teams to support HSE initiatives
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to promote HSE awareness and engagement
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics and trends
Requirements:
  • At least 10 years of experience in a construction environment, preferably in a civil engineering company
  • Proven experience in HSE management, including policy development, risk assessment, and audit
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
