Job Description

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly skilled Principal Waste Water Process Engineer to lead our Transformational Programmes for critical UK infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work on iconic engineering projects at home and abroad, specialising in all aspects of process engineering within the water industry.

We are looking for an experienced leader to take charge of technical design work, prepare briefs and scopes of work, and successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones. The successful candidate will work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions, adhering to quality assurance standards in design.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, and to high-quality levels.
  • Prepare briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
  • Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
  • Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Adhere to quality assurance standards in design.


Requirements

  • Chartered Chemical / Process Engineer (preferably IChemE or CIWEM).
  • Experience in leading design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
  • Fundamental understanding and experience of integrated waste-water and bioresources treatment process.
  • Design and/or operational experience of main process unit operations: primary / secondary / tertiary treatment, bioresource treatment and disposal, odour and energy management.
  • Experience of process safety techniques (HAZOP / DSEAR), capital and operational costs assessments, whole life carbon assessments as well as knowledge of UK environmental regulations.
  • Awareness of process modelling techniques and software, e.g. BioWIn, SUMO.
