About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Officer in Charge to join our team at Cyngor Caerdydd/Cardiff Council. As a key member of our Children's Home team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support to vulnerable children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the management and administration of the Children's Home, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and providing an excellent quality of care to residents.
  • Lead and motivate the staff team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, carers, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and consultation.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with the Council's strategic objectives.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, ensuring effective use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Chair meetings and facilitate discussions, promoting inclusivity and achieving objectives.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a senior role within a residential childcare environment, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality care and support.
  • Relevant qualifications, including a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) and registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and other current legislative requirements.
  • Ability to undertake and complete assessments, with a strong understanding of child development and the needs of young people.
