Deputy Officer in Charge

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Officer in Charge to join our team at Cyngor Caerdydd/Cardiff Council. As a key member of our Children's Home team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support to vulnerable children and young people.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the management and administration of the home, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and providing an excellent quality of care to residents.
- Lead and motivate staff to deliver outstanding care and support, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, communities, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective consultation and participation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with the Council's strategic objectives.
- Take responsibility for ensuring the professional competence of the staff team, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Manage delegated budgets effectively, monitoring finances and ensuring value for money.
- Coordinate and chair meetings, promoting inclusion and achieving objectives.
- Proven experience at a senior level of working with young people in a residential childcare environment.
- Relevant qualification meeting the equivalent criteria for Social Care Wales registration, including a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People).
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and other current legislative requirements.
- Experience of working with a Behaviour Support Model of Care and managing staff.
- Ability to plan, organise, and prepare reports, as well as chair meetings.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
