About the Role

At Salvation Army Homes, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality housing services, support, and resettlement for individuals who have experienced homelessness and require assistance with accommodation.

Mildmay House aims to empower individuals to develop their strengths and talents, supporting them to overcome barriers such as substance use and mental health challenges, and enabling independent living.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify and prioritize client needs, ensuring timely and effective support.
  • Provide personalized support to clients, focusing on managing personal care needs, such as hygiene and well-being.
  • Develop and implement services to reduce drug and alcohol admissions to emergency services.
  • Proactively address physical and emotional well-being, isolation, and exclusion among clients.
  • Maintain high standards of accommodation and grounds, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for clients.
About the Service

Mildmay House is a 47-bed supported accommodation service for single homeless individuals, aged 16 and above. Our service caters to clients from diverse backgrounds, including relationship breakdowns, rough sleeping, mental health, and substance use. We strive to provide a warm, respectful, and supportive environment, encouraging clients to feel at home from the outset.

About You

We seek a Support Worker who shares our values and behaviors, is passionate about helping people thrive, and is committed to finding effective solutions. You will need:

  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals or groups.
  • Knowledge of working with people who have experienced long-term homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges (desirable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • High resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • A person-centered approach, empowering clients to develop their skills and strengths.
  • Good knowledge of community resources and organizations that support our clients.
  • Flexibility to accommodate a rotating shift schedule, ensuring the needs of the service and team members are met.
