Maintenance Assistant Job Description

Harbour Healthcare Limited is seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Treetops Court Care Home in Leek. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of our care centre, including its services and grounds, to ensure a safe and efficient functional order.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance tasks, including minor electrical, plumbing, and joinery work.
  • Ensure all legal documentation is completed on time and report any known defects to appliances, furniture, or equipment.
  • Maintain the exterior of the care centre, including cleaning and tidying sheds, outbuildings, and waste storage areas.
  • Clear snow and grit the drive, paths, and external areas.
  • Test the fire alarm system and log results weekly.
  • Ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean and replace any defective light bulbs or diffusers.
  • Test and record water temperatures as specified in company procedures.
  • Assist with deliveries and monitor goods closely.
Requirements:
  • General maintenance knowledge and experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Confident team player.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Use of a car or similar vehicle.
  • Willingness to receive training on current Health & Safety and EHO issues.
  • Satisfactory Police check and check against the POVA List (where applicable).
Desirable Skills:
  • Understanding of central heating systems, laundry equipment, and hot and cold water systems.
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations.
