The Emerald Group is seeking an experienced Actuarial Specialist for Complex Risks to join our team. This role requires a strong understanding of deal level pricing and a passion for developing innovative pricing models.

Job Description:

In this challenging role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality deal level case pricing for the Specialty division, focusing on material and complex deals. Your expertise will help to identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring that our clients receive accurate and reliable pricing information.

You will work closely with our Underwriters to enhance commercial and strategic approaches, leveraging your actuarial insights and creative solutions to drive business growth. As a key member of our Portfolio Underwriting Team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and efficient decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver deal level case pricing for the Specialty division, with a focus on material and complex deals.
  • Develop best-in-class pricing models that sit outside of the algorithm, incorporating advanced techniques and tech solutions.
  • Conduct model validation and recalibration exercises, assessing and communicating the impact of model changes.
  • Collaborate with Underwriters to enhance commercial and strategic approaches, leveraging actuarial insights and creative solutions.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Actuary (FIA, FFA or equivalent).
  • Relevant numerate degree with a good overall grade.
  • Experience in managing small teams and prioritizing workloads.
  • Project management skills with moderate guidance and direction.
  • Sound commercial general insurance Lloyd's/company market experience.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in MS Excel, SQL, and Python.
  • Data science skills and proven track record in insurance settings are beneficial.

We offer a competitive salary of £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as a range of benefits and opportunities for professional growth.
