Job Title: Consultant in Adult Community Psychiatry

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant in Adult Community Psychiatry to join our team at NHS Scotland. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering specialist services in addiction psychiatry to patients across the North Highland region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake direct clinical work within defined localities, providing specialist treatment interventions to patients with addiction-related issues.
  • Support the development of medical and non-medical staff in the delivery of specialist treatment interventions, including Non-Medical Prescribers and Advanced Nurse Prescribers.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to co-produce interventions aimed at supporting recovery and reducing harm, including the implementation of Medication Assisted Treatment Standards (MAT).
  • Participate in the Consultant on-call rota at New Craigs Hospital, with a current rota frequency of 1:16 and an availability supplement of 3%.

Requirements:

  • Be on the GMC specialist register in General Adult Psychiatry (with an endorsement in Substance Misuse Psychiatry) or within 6 months of the award of CCT by the date of interview.
  • Have a strong understanding of addiction psychiatry and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
