Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Network Specialist to join our Security team in Farnborough. This role involves undertaking remote commissioning work on transmission equipment and networks, as well as performing regular audits and providing technical support to others in the department and to customers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of transmission equipment and networks, including DWDM, SDH, and PDH, and will be aware of the configuration of Ciena and Alcatel equipment. They will also have in-depth knowledge of IP networking, switching, and routing in a telecoms provider environment, as well as awareness of Cisco and Alcatel IP/Ethernet equipment.

The successful candidate will be able to maintain customer confidentiality and hold security clearance. They will also have a good understanding of ITIL working practices and hold a CCNA or equivalent experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake remote commissioning work on Tx, IP and equipment deployed on customer and network sites to current specifications.
  • Perform regular audits on the networks and systems.
  • Provide technical support to others in the department and to customers.

  • Shift role working 2 days, then 2 nights followed by 4 days off rotation 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am.
