About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sales Engineer to join our Service Department at Mpac Lambert. As a Sales Engineer, you will play a critical role in contributing to our continuous improvement initiatives to provide exceptional service to our global customers.

As a Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for interpreting our service department's sales strategy and developing plans to successfully identify and pursue new business opportunities within our chosen sectors. You will work closely with our customers to understand their needs, vision, and strategic direction, and present our service offerings in a way that highlights our unique selling points and aligns with their business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret the service department's sales strategy and create objectives for targeting and penetrating new clients within our chosen target sectors.
  • Understand the customer's business needs, vision, and strategic direction to align our service offerings accordingly.
  • Deliver strategically aligned and validated tender opportunities into the business.
  • Manage the sales process from beginning to end to ensure a winning sales strategy and key performance indicators are in place.
  • Support the commercial team with winning quotations and communicate technical and scope of supply information to customers.
  • Manage commercial negotiations for additional equipment, service level agreements, and ECNs to ensure profitability and scope of supply.
  • Manage customer relationships and expectations while understanding their overall vision and strategy for the future.
Requirements
  • Experience in the software design of industrial automation.
  • Experience of working in an innovative environment and providing innovative solutions.
  • Experience in evaluating technical requirements and providing viable solutions.
  • Experience in identifying and reporting long and short-term project resource requirements.
  • The generation and verification of software design documents.
  • Interpretation of customer requirements and presentation of design solutions at internal design reviews.
  • Commercially aware of the effective use of resources, scope change, and implications of choice.
  • Applying technical due diligence, being risk aware, performing FMEA, and using design studies and POP work to mitigate risk.
  • Knowledge of British and international standards relative to the design and installation of industrial automation systems.
  • Experience of conducting assessments and generating technical documents to support compliance to the Machinery Directive and other British and international standards.
  • Experience in the validation procedures and application of GAMP.
Skills and Qualifications
  • A proven history of successful strategic selling and customer relationship management.
  • A proven understanding of the service engineering sector, ideally within the automation and machine manufacturing industries.
  • A proven track record in a service engineering solution selling environment with the ability to work both independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational, time management, and presentation skills with a professional approach to business problem solving in a customer environment.
  • Good negotiation and commercial skills along with a strong understanding of market pricing and competitor influence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, adjusting approach or communication styles to suit the circumstances.
  • Experience of presenting technical solutions, company presentations, and USPs.
  • A proven, high level of commercial awareness.
  • Valid Driving Licence.
