Job Title: Buddy Wellbeing Coordinator - Prison Rehabilitation
Job Type: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week, 3 days per week
Salary: £25,623 per annum (pro rata)
Location: HMP Ashfield and other prisons in the North West
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Buddy Wellbeing Coordinator to join our team at Service Care Solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the training, supervision, and management of the Buddy Support Worker programme at HMP Ashfield, with occasional support in other prisons in the North West.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the training, supervision, and management of the Buddy Support Worker programme at HMP Ashfield and other prisons in the North West.
- Provide high-quality, innovative, holistic, and responsive support, advice, and intervention to ensure the needs of individuals with health and social care needs are supported.
- Work closely with prisoners, prisons, local authority social work teams, healthcare, education, probation, and other voluntary/third sector agencies.
- Recruit, plan, and deliver the Buddy Support Worker programme of training to prisoners, using the modules and resources available.
- Ensure the organisational and individual statutory responsibilities are met with regards to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
- Promote the engagement and retention of Buddies through delivery, observations, and supervision.
- Adhere to all prison health, safety, and risk requirements, including risk assessment of course delivery and Buddy engagement.
- Promote equality and diversity and appropriate Buddy conduct throughout all delivery and Buddy engagement.
- Schedule monthly Buddy Forums to share good practice and raise concerns.
- Support prison/local authority staff to understand the training aspects and the importance of them being involved in supporting the programme.
- Work alongside nominated Wing Officers and Managers to support the Buddies on a day-to-day basis.
- Maintain accurate and complete records, including paper and electronic files, for audit review purposes.
- Work with the Data Manager and other business growth partners to develop consistent data and quality approaches and structures.
Requirements:
- Experience working with offenders or people in the criminal justice system, older people, or people in a social care setting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of health and social care policies and procedures.
