Lead Ecological Consultant

As a Senior Field Ecologist at SLR, you will play a key role in our team's success by leading ecological consultancy projects and mentoring junior colleagues. We are seeking an experienced professional to join our UK-based team.
About the RoleThis position involves working collaboratively with other team members across the UK and requires occasional short-term travel within the region. Our company culture is built on a 'one team' approach, providing a supportive environment for professional growth and development.
Our OfferSLR offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a competitive salary of £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as a company pension, excellent healthcare, travel insurance, critical illness cover, and a structured career framework with regular reviews. Our staff enjoy flexible working arrangements, with 25 days' annual leave, and we provide family-friendly policies to balance work and personal life.
About YouWe are looking for a highly skilled ecologist with demonstrable experience in various areas of ecological consultancy practice. You should be able to lead and mentor others within the team, and have expertise in ecological surveying (terrestrial ecology, botany, ornithology, or another specialism). A good understanding of relevant ecological legislation and policy within Scotland and the UK is also essential.
Key Responsibilities:- Leading and managing ecological consultancy projects, including planning and scheduling surveys, budget management, and client liaison.
- Developing and implementing project plans, ensuring timely completion and meeting client expectations.
- Mentoring junior colleagues and sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance their skills and performance.
- Conducting ecological surveys, including habitat assessments, species identification, and data analysis.
- Providing expert advice on ecological issues, including protected species surveys and environmental impact assessments.
