Electric Vehicle Smart Charging Senior Policy Advisor

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced policy advisor to lead on electric vehicle smart charging policy in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing policy to accelerate the deployment of smart charging technology and ensure the UK’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement policy to accelerate the deployment of smart charging technology
  2. Work closely with stakeholders across government, industry, and academia to identify and overcome barriers to smart charging
  3. Provide technical advice and support to policymakers and other stakeholders on smart charging policy
  4. Contribute to the development of the Department’s energy policy agenda and ensure that smart charging is prioritized as a key area for action

Requirements

  • Proven experience of working on energy policy, particularly in the area of electric vehicles and smart charging
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex technical issues and communicate them effectively to non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results
