About the Role

As a Policy Advisor with the Scottish Greens, you will play a key role in supporting the work of our Member of Parliament (MSP). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to policy development and campaign activities that make a real difference to people's lives.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Scottish political landscape and be passionate about aspects of public policy. They will also be highly organized, able to work independently, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

We are seeking someone who is flexible, adaptable, and able to use their own initiative to prioritize competing workloads. A good understanding of issues in the Highlands and Islands region is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Debate prep, research, and speaking notes
  • Drafting written correspondence such as letters, requests for information, and parliamentary questions and motions
  • Reviewing parliamentary motions
  • Gathering and distributing valuable data that supports MSP activities
  • Carrying out general office administration and acting as front of office for enquiries

Requirements:

  • An interest in the Scottish political landscape
  • Be sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the Scottish Greens
  • Be empathetic and able to build and maintain relationships with a variety of people
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach, be able to use good judgment, work on own initiative, and able to prioritize competing workloads
  • Excellent written, verbal, and IT skills with accurate attention to detail
  • Creative flair and expertise to produce accurate and influential work

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
